The marriage between PSV and Philipp Max has come to an end. The left wing defender was rented out to Eintracht Frankfurt for the past six months and that club is now taking him over permanently. The current number eight of the Bundesliga had negotiated an option to buy and is now using it. Max won three prizes with PSV in 117 official matches.

Max’s final departure does not come entirely out of the blue. The left back moved to Frankfurt in January and could be taken over permanently if the impression is positive. Since his arrival, Max has acted thirteen times for his new employer, which automatically converted the lease into a purchase deal. According to it Eindhovens Dagblad it concerns an amount of two million euros.

PSV thus suffers a loss of more than five million euros, as the German was taken over from FC Augsburg in the summer of 2020 for 7.7 million euros. Max started very strong at PSV and even attracted the attention of national coach Joachim Löw, who made his debut with the national team that same year. Then the draft quickly came in and the defender never reached the level of his initial period in Eindhoven.

After barely three years, the counter stops at 117 official games in all competitions. Max managed to score 8 times and acted as declarant 20 times. The away match against FC Emmen will go down in the books as his last in the shirt of PSV. Max won the Johan Cruijff Shield twice and the TOTO KNVB Cup once. PSV has already brought in a replacement for Max in Patrick van Aanholt. The nineteen-time the Dutch international will also be rented from Galatasaray next season.
