Peter Bosz has nothing good to say about Clément Turpin. The French referee decided on Sunday after VAR intervention to disallow a late goal by Lucas Paqueta in the Ligue 1 match against Lille OSC (0-1). According to the trainer of Olympique Lyon, the hit was valid and had les gones should have at least one point left from meeting the reigning champions of France.

Lille goalkeeper Léo Jardim lingered in the 86th minute of the Ligue 1 game after a pass back from Tiago Djaló, after which Paqueta snatched the ball from him and shot the 1-1 into the empty goal. However, after VAR intervention, referee Turpin decided to disallow the goal due to an alleged foul by the attacking midfielder. This decision could count on little understanding from Bosz, who dropped to tenth place in Ligue 1 due to the draw with Lyon.

“The keeper just kicked the ground,” Bosz said at the press conference afterwards. “It is unbelievable that our goal was disallowed. I really can’t understand the arbitration decision. We scored a valid goal just before time. The keeper kicks into the ground. That was clear to everyone in the world, except for the referee.”

Turpin was also the leader in Lyon’s league match with Paris Saint-Germain (2-1 loss) earlier this season. The referee then decided to award a penalty after an alleged foul on Neymar. “Everyone says Turpin is the best referee in France, but in my view he is not. In Paris it was not a penalty either. Now follows another bad decision.”
