Bert Konterman will most likely be the main responsible at PEC Zwolle for the rest of the season, reports the Stentor Friday. Konterman takes over the duties of John Stegeman, who was suspended by the club last week. As a result, Art Langeler can complete his work at the KNVB in peace, before he starts working as head coach for the number thirteen of the Eredivisie next summer.

Konterman is not the first name associated with PEC. The club initially wanted Alfons Groenendijk as an intermediary for the group and even had discussions with the former trainer of Willem II, among others. On closer inspection, Groenendijk decided not to act as an interim coach, after he did not agree with that position. Konterman has worked at the KNVB in recent years, where he coached various representative youth teams. It is expected that PEC will announce the arrival of Konterman to the world after the match against sc Heerenveen on Friday evening.

As a player, Konterman wore the PEC Zwolle shirt for four seasons, in which he scored 121 games and 7 goals. From 2010 Konterman was employed as technical director at the Overijssel club. From that role, the twelve-time the Dutch international also worked together with Langeler. Konterman also held the position of head of youth education in Zwolle. A position that was also filled by Langeler at PEC in the past.
