Oussama Idrissi has left Sevilla on loan for the second time. The 25-year-old wing attacker was loaned out to Ajax by the Spanish club last season and is now finishing the season with Cádiz, the current number nineteen of LaLiga. Idrissi – acquired by Sevilla in the summer of 2020 for twelve million euros from AZ – hardly got to play at Sevilla in the first half of the season.

The counter this season for Idrissi stands at 245 playing minutes, spread over seven games. The attacker had a total of four starts and provided one assist, but this month he dropped further in the pecking order at Sevilla due to the arrival of Jesús Manuel Corona. The Mexican winger was taken over from FC Porto for three million euros and that practically disappeared the view of playing minutes at Sevilla for Idrissi.

Idrissi was linked to Club Brugge and an unnamed Dutch club last summer, but was determined to take his chance at Sevilla. That despite the fact that trainer Julen Lopetegui would have already informed him in July that there would be no future for him in the first team. Then it was through El Desmarque reported that Idrissi would still be open to a (temporary) departure if it turned out in August that there would be little playing time ahead.

It didn’t come from a departure last summer, but now Idrissi has temporarily left Sevilla behind. It is the second rental period after he spent the second half of last season at Ajax. That period was not a resounding success, because he played only 285 minutes in Amsterdam spread over 14 games and delivered no goals or assists. Idrissi’s contract with Sevilla will continue until mid-2025 and it was previously reported that they want to recoup as large as possible of the transfer fee paid to AZ in the event of a definitive departure.
