Oscar confirms that Barcelona wants to hire him this month. The thirty-year-old Brazilian has been associated with the Chinese Shanghai SIPG since 2017 and would love to make the temporary switch to the Camp Nou. “I am aware that I have to make some financial sacrifices,” the former Chelsea midfielder told TNT Sports Brazil.

Two weeks ago, the Brazilian medium already reported the interest of Barcelona, which can now be confirmed by Oscar himself. “Barcelona has contacted my agent to investigate the possibility,” said the 48-time international. “They know that the season in China runs until March.” Oscar knows his desired transfer is complicated by the problems at Barcelona. “I suppose they are currently solving the problem with the registration of new players.”

Barcelona have now managed to sign Ferran Torres, but currently have no room for another signing. “We haven’t had any conversations so far, no,” Oscar said of his contact with Barca. “There’s no point in doing that as long as Barcelona can’t register new players. Once that’s resolved, we’ll see what we can do. It would be a great opportunity for me.”

Oscar disappeared from European top football in 2017, when the number ten left for Shanghai SIPG for a Chinese record sum of sixteen million euros. The Brazilian is ready to make his return to the European stage at Barcelona, he says. “We can talk about a construction where they pay me less,” said Oscar, who barely needs a salary for a chance at Barca. “I’ve heard that Dani Alves has also been brought in for some kind of minimum salary. But we have to wait for the problems with Financial Fair Play to be solved first.”
