The Dutch national team is the new number thirteen on the FIFA ranking list. On Thursday morning, the world football federation published its first ranking since the outbreak of the coronacrisis and the Dutch have risen one place on this list. This increase is at the expense of Switzerland, which after a defeat against Ukraine and a draw against Germany in the Nations League has tumbled down three spots to fifteenth position.

Orange benefits from this despite the defeat that was suffered against Italy. The team of interim-bond coach Dwight Lodeweges did manage to deal with Poland in the Nations League and therefore goes up a place. Besides the Netherlands, Italy and Germany also benefit from the plunge of Switzerland, they are respectively the new number twelve and fourteen.

Since in the past inter-country period there was almost exclusively play in Europe, the European countries are also responsible for the biggest shifts. The top four with successively Belgium, France, Brazil and England remain unchanged. Behind this, Portugal is the new number five, causing Uruguay to lose a spot. Spain, Croatia, Argentina and Colombia make up the top ten.

Russia is the biggest riser on the list published on Thursday. The Russians won from Serbia and Hungary and as a result rise no less than six positions. The host country of the most recent World Cup is now the number 32 in the world.
