Donny van de Beek did not play in the top match between Chelsea and Manchester United (0-0) in the Premier League on Sunday, but made the news in England in a striking way, thanks to a visit to the toilet. The Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mirror a few hours after the cracker at Stamford Bridge with a supposed embarassing moment of the the Dutch International. Opinions about the publications are logically divided.

Van de Beek started for the 23rd time this season in the Premier League as a reserve player and ultimately did not come within the lines. Ten minutes before time, the ex-Ajax player suddenly left the Manchester United reserve bench. “Donny van de Beek has just gone to the toilet, the ladies’ room”, journalist Matt Law, who has a quarter of a million followers, published on Twitter. A publication that received more than three thousand likes, partly because its followers could enjoy it.

“Fortunately they were empty. They were the closest toilets to the Manchester United bench, ”was Law’s second, ironic, tweet, apparently unimpressed by the game played by the teams of Thomas Tuchel and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mirror even published an article about the Dutchman’s toilet visit.

Not everyone can appreciate Law’s tweets, especially from Manchester United supporters. Comments like Pathetic journalist, garbage or Great reporting, imagine spending that much money on a journalism degree just to use it to write this tweet and Visionary reporting from the Daily Telegraph followed, versus jokes à la From the Leak and From the Toilet.
