Cengiz Ünder continues his career at Olympique Marseille for the time being. The French club and AS Roma reported on Sunday afternoon a lease agreement including an option to buy 8.4 million euros. Last season’s number five in Ligue 1 has to pay half a million euros for the temporary presence of the winger-cum-Turkish international, who apparently did not appear in Jose Mourinho’s plans.

Ünder, 23, was loaned to Leicester City by AS Roma last season, but that was not an unqualified success. A competition with Justin Kluivert, who was loaned out to RB Leipzig in the past football season, was out of the question, as Mourinho gave permission to let the Turk go on loan again. Remarkably enough, Kluivert was also appointed L’OM linked, but he will remain in Rome for the time being.

Olympique Marseille has big plans for next season. The southern French club previously paid €25 million to Flamengo for Gerson’s services. The 24-year-old midfielder previously played for AS Roma and Fiorentina. American international Konrad de la Fuente was taken over from Barcelona for an amount of three million euros. However, the southern French are far from ready on the summer transfer market.

Olympique Marseille also wants to take over goalkeeper Pau López on a rental basis from AS Roma next week and also expects an agreement with Arsenal about Matteo Guendouzi. The midfielder turned down a proposal from Benfica because he only wants to play for Olympique Marseille. The Londoners are also talking about William Saliba. The defender can only be rented without an option to buy.
