Club Brugge was dramatically eliminated in the Belgian cup tournament on Thursday-evening by Standard Liège (1-0). Frustrations ran high for the visitors in the final phase, including substitute Noa Lang. Afterwards, the emotions had not completely cooled off at the Dutch youth international. On Instagram, he cynically wished Standard Liège the best of luck in play-Off 2, in order to take his message offline not much later.

In injury time, David Okereke seemed to equalize on behalf of Club Brugge. His goal was first rejected by referee Nathan Verboomen, then approved and then rejected again. Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet had gone forward with a corner kick and was eventually penalized for an alleged handball. Just before that, Ruud Vormer and Lang had already killed opportunities.

Noa Lang has since removed this post.

Emotions ran high among the players of Club Brugge, who could not be helped by the VAR because the video referee is not used in the quarter finals of the cup tournament. In the final phase, Lang had a fight with various players from Standard Liège. Afterwards, Lang shared a sneer on social media les Rouches: “Good luck in Play-Off 2”, said Lang, who also added a heart. He also criticized the absence of the VAR: “A quarter-final without VAR”, Lang wrote, closing with smiling emojis. He also took that post offline.

In play-off 2, numbers five to 8 compete for a European ticket, while numbers 1 to 4 compete for the championship in the Champions play-offs. Standard can be found in tenth place in the ranking, Club Brugge is the leader. Supporters of Club Brugge could appreciate Lang’s post on Instagram, according to Twitter.
