Neymar sees himself playing in the United States in the future, the Paris Saint-Germain attacker announced during the podcast Phenomenos on twitch. In a double interview with his compatriot Ronaldo, the thirty-year-old attacker also indicates that it is not certain that he will make his comeback in the Brazilian Serie A during his football career. “One day I want it, the next day I don’t,” said Neymar.

Neymar still has a contract with PSG until mid-2025, but does not expect him to end his football career with the French superpower. The attacker says he has a clear preference for Major League Soccer. “I don’t know, I have my doubts. I don’t know if I will play in Brazil again. One day I want it, the next day I don’t,” says Neymar. “I would love to play in the United States someday, if only for one season.”

“One of the reasons for wanting to play in the MLS is that the season is short. I would then have a holiday or three months. That way I could play for a few more years,” Neymar says with a laugh. The attacker, who made his professional debut in Santos’ shirt at the age of 17, does not know how long he will play before retiring from football. “I joke with my friends that I will retire when I am 32 years old. I honestly don’t know, I will play until I can’t take it anymore mentally.”

“If my mental health is okay and so is my body…” Neymar continues. “Physically, I think I can go on for a few more years. But my mental health is the most important thing. My contract with Paris Saint-Germain runs until I’m 34. So at least I will play until then.” Should Neymar actually make the step to MLS in the future, he would follow in the footsteps of his idol Pelé, who played for the New York Cosmos for two years.
