Newcastle United have one point left on Saturday from their first Premier League game without the sacked Steve Bruce. Dragged on the couch with his former assistant Graeme Jones the Magpies with a lot of effort a point from the fire visiting Crystal Palace: 1-1. Newcastle will cherish the point but remain in 19th place, while Palace is 15th. Furthermore, Everton was mercilessly slaughtered by Watford, who won 2-5 partly thanks to a hat trick from Joshua King.

Crystal Palace – Newcastle United 1-1
Newcastle managed to create the first danger after fifteen minutes via a free kick, which remained in a scrimmage in the penalty area. Attempts by Emil Krafth and Callum Wilson were blocked in the crowds. Palace had the ball for almost the entire game, but did not manage to create much with it. After more than twenty minutes Christian Benteke saw a header hit the post.

After Benteke had missed another good chance shortly after the break by shooting over from close range, the striker scored in the 56th minute. Benteke was able to head in a good pass from Tyrick Mitchell quite simply: 1-0. A few minutes later, the Belgian had the chance to make it 2-0, but this time his header hit the crossbar. Newcastle struck on the other side via Wilson, who accidentally got the ball in the crowded penalty area and scored with a nice overhead kick: 1-1. Palace could have won, but Benteke first shot into the hands of Karl Darlow in freedom and then saw a header goal disallowed by VAR for hindering a defender.

Everton – Watford 2-5
Everton started the game well and took the lead after three minutes. Demarai Gray put in a nice dribble on the left wing and put in front of Tom Davies from the back line, who tapped in from close range: 1-0. Watford came back within fifteen minutes via Joshua King, who took advantage of a somewhat fortunate header by Craig Cathcart at the far post: 1-1.

Everton’s game wasn’t great, yet they came the Toffees took the lead again after more than an hour. Richarlison, who was only on the field for two minutes, appreciated a Michael Keane cross and finished it off nicely with a gliding header: 2-1. Watford kept believing in it and came back all the way just before time. First Juraj Kucka headed in freely from a corner by Cucho, then King was completely free to shoot in after a cross from Emmanuel Dennis: 2-3. Things got even better for Watford thanks to King again, who showed Keane in the box with a hood move and finished it calmly: 2-4. Dennis signed in injury time for the final chord by cutting out Seamus Coleman and sliding the ball in cold-blooded: 2-5.
