Bayern Munich has made another mistake three days after the 2-3 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. Hansi Flick’s team did not get further than a 1-1 draw against 1. FC Union Berlin in-house in the Bundesliga. Pursuit RB Leipzig benefited optimally thanks to a 1-4 victory at Werder Bremen and now has five points less than the leader and reigning national champion. The top match between Eintracht Frankfurt and VfL Wolfsburg ended at the same time in 4-3, partly thanks to the eighteenth goal of Wout Weghorst. Wolfsburg now has only one point more than Eintracht as number three.

Bayern Munich – 1. FC Union Berlin 1 – 1
Urs Fischer’s team emerged as the moral winner from the first half. Bayern, where Josip Stanisic immediately made his debut in the starting line-up and Tiago Dantas appeared for the first time at the starting signal, dominated with sixty percent possession and more goal attempts, but the Flick team lacked determination and precision in the last meters. After just over twenty minutes of play, the well-defending Union Berlin, which entered without the injured Sheraldo Becker, even had an excellent chance to break open the score. A header from Marius Bülter on a pass from Keita Endo, however, went straight to Manuel Neuer. Bayern got no further than two attempts by Thomas Müller.

Even after the break, Bayern struggled with the stiff Union Berlin. Flick had already exchanged Kingsley Coman for Leroy Sané at half-time and also opted for the entrance of David Alaba, Gavin Scott and Benjamin Pavard halfway through the second half. In the end it was Jamal Musiala who broke the score after 68 minutes. After preparatory work by Pavard and Müller, the youngster shot the ball from about five meters behind Andreas Luthe. Union Berlin, thanks to a goal in minute 85, still had one point for the visit to Bavaria. Robert Andrich outsmarted Tanguy Nianzou after a long throw-in and enabled Marcus Ingvartsen to score from close range: 1-1.

Werder Bremen – RB Leipzig 1-4
Julian Nagelmsann’s team had to win to keep up with leader Bayern Munich. The visitors had no child to Bremen in the first half and took the lead halfway through the first half, when Dani Olmo was at the end of a brilliant attack. The midfielder got the ball back after a heel from Marcel Sabitzer and finished easily: 0-1. Twenty minutes later the margin was already at three due to Alexander Sörloth. The striker headed home after half an hour on a pass from Christopher Nkunku and signed for 0-3 just before half time, by tapping from close range after fumbling in the defense at Bremen.

After an hour of play, the home team did something back, when Milot Rashica was allowed to build from eleven meters after a handball from Kevin Kampl: 1-3. For a long time, however, Bremen could not enjoy the connection goal, when Sabitzer shot the 1-4 against the ropes between three defenders of Bremen barely two minutes later. The resistance of the hosts was thus definitively broken, after which Leipzig had opportunities to further expand the score. Justin Kluivert was taken to the side by Nagelsmann after an hour of play and saw from the stands how his team slowed down slightly in the final phase and was no longer in danger.

Eintracht Frankfurt – VfL Wolfsburg 4-3
In the first half, the teams of Adi Hütter and Oliver Glasner did not give each other an inch. Wolfsburg needed only six minutes to take the lead: after a pass from Weghorst, Ridle Baku worked the ball from about eighteen meters into the left corner. Two minutes later it was already right again: Sebastian Rode let a pass from Erik Durm run and Daichi Kamada aimed the ball from fourteen meters against the ropes. Wofsburg was close to 1-2 via Baku and later also Weghorst, but it was the home team that took the break with a lead. After less than half an hour of play André Silva was unstoppable, after which Luka Jovic shot the ball hard behind Koen Casteels from seven meters.

Eintracht’s start in the second half was disastrous: after a sloppy pass from Djibril Sow, Baku delivered the ball to Weghorst, who saw his bet touched by Erick Ilsanker disappear into the left corner. Wolfsburg wanted more, but it was André Silva who again unbalanced the game. After 54 minutes, his shot in the left corner again meant competition goal number 23 and a few minutes later Durm signed for the 4-2, after a shot by the Portuguese on the post. An own goal by Tatu a few minutes before the end ultimately meant the final score: 4-3.

Hertha BSC – Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-2
The duel between Hertha and Gladbach was barely fifteen minutes old when the visitors had to continue with ten men. Matthias Ginter was surprised on the inside by Jhon Córdoba, after which goalkeeper Yann Sommer felt compelled to work Hertha’s breakthrough attacker to the ground. Halfway through the first half, Hertha took advantage of that man-more situation. Córdoba put the ball back on the edge of the penalty area, after which Santiago Ascacíbar found the top right corner: 1-0. However, Hertha could not enjoy the lead for a long time. Four minutes after the opening goal, it was Alassane Pléa who was sent into the depth and hit the ball diagonally: 1-1.

Gladbach hardly seemed to be bothered by the subtalsitautie and took the lead before half time, when Lars Stindl was allowed to moor from eleven meters after a foul by Niklas Stark on Marcus Thuram. Stindl did not fail and gave Gladbach the lead: 1-2. After the break, when Deyovaisio Zeefuik was left in the dressing room, Hertha took the initiative more and the team of trainer Pál Dárdai soon came alongside via Córdoba. The attacker slipped the ball in from close range after a cross from the right by Matheus Cunha: 2-2. Based on the odds ratio in the second company, Hertha deserved the victory, but no more goals were scored.
