NEC has achieved a big victory in the Kitchen Champion Division. Ron de Groot’s team was 6-0 too strong for FC Eindhoven in De Goffert, which had one of the least passed defenses of the competition until Saturday. The second half was there with four goals, a red card and a special appearance in the Eindhoven goal. NEC moves up to seventh place and plays next week at Jong FC Utrecht, while FC Eindhoven hopes to perform better in the home game against Excelsior.

In the first half hour, NEC and FC Eindhoven were evenly matched, although the visitors remained somewhat hanging and strangled. A shot from a distance by Jordy Bruijn ended on the crossbar and fifteen minutes later he also aimed at the post. In between, Norbert Alblas reacted well to a header from Valentino Vermeulen after a corner kick.

NEC, however, struck twice in the last ten minutes before half-time. Souffian El Karouani took a devastating shot from a distance with the left and put it 1-0 on the scoreboard. Five minutes later, Rangelo Janga tapped in a rebound from close range, after a shot from Elayis Tavsan was turned by Thomas Jonkerman. Even before half-time, a bet by Tavsan in the short corner on the post ended and the teams went into half-time with an intermediate score of 2-0.

De Groot’s team took a quick distance in the second half. Jonathan Okita dribbled past the Eindhoven defense in the 52nd minute and shot the 3-0 against the ropes. Two minutes later, Joep van der Sluijs shot the ball from the edge of the box behind Jonkerman. Seventeen minutes before the end, Dirk Proper walked in a corner from Bruijn, after Jonkerman missed the ball: 5-0.

A striking moment just before time: Jonkerman gets injured, but FC Eindhoven had already made five changes. Maarten Peijnenburg put on Jonkerman’s goalkeeper shirt and gloves to finish the match as goalkeeper. Deep in the extra time, Pieter Bogaers received a red card after pushing hard on Tavsan and Peijnenburg was also passed: the defender had no answer to a shot from Bruijn.
