Napoli started the Serie A season with a 1-3 victory over PhD student Frosinone. The reigning national champion was still behind by a goal from Abdou Harraoui, but thanks to hits from Matteo Politano and Victor Osimhen, Napoli still took the lead. With the victory, the team from Naples is currently at the top of the Serie A.

Napoli had to do without Khvicha Khvaratskhelia, who is injured. Therefore, Giacomo Raspadori started on the left wing position. Kim Min-jae, who left for Bayern Munich this summer, was replaced in the heart of the defense by Juan Jesus. Harraoui started on the side of Frosinone, which became champion of Serie B last season. The former midfielder of Sparta Rotterdam made the switch from Sassuolo this summer for 2.5 million euros.

The home team was surprisingly 1-0 within seven minutes. After a corner, Jens Cajuste wanted to clear the ball, but he unfortunately kicked opponent Jaime Báez down: penalty. It was used by Harraoui. Within fifteen minutes Napoli also had his first goal in the net. A shot from Piotr Zielinski was blocked, ended up with Politano and the latter lashed out hard: 1-1. After a volley wide from Anthony Oyono and a goal from Raspadori disallowed (due to offside), Napoli still went into the break with a 1-2 lead. Giovanni Di Lorenzo accelerated on the right side of the field and passed back to Osimhen, who hit hard and high.

After less than an hour of play, Frosinone smelled 2-2, when a free kick by Báez hit the inside of the post. A minute later, Napoli on the other side of the field was also close to the fourth goal of the match: after a good ball from Zielinski to Osimhen, the latter shot over in a promising position. Twenty minutes later, the striker took revenge for that missed opportunity: he was sent deep by Di Lorenzo and finished cold-blooded. 1-3 was also the final score.
