NAC Breda won against Young AZ on Monday evening with some difficulty. The team of trainer Maurice Steijn will have thought at half time to have won the points due to the double lead, but Zakaria Aboukhlal made the match exciting again in the second half. A hit by Michael Maria nevertheless gave NAC the three points: 2-3. With that, number three NAC remains in the race for second place. Almere City is four points ahead of the Breda team, who won for the sixth time in a row. Young AZ is eighteenth.

Young AZ had a strong opening phase, but it was NAC Breda that took the lead after twenty minutes. Kaj de Rooij took the one-two with Mario Bilate and started a beautiful individual action. The attacker Maxim Gullit played through the legs, then cut out Tijs Velthuis and fired in: 0-1. After half an hour, NAC doubled its lead, when Lex Immers hit a header from a corner by Mounir El Allouchi. This was due to a blunder by goalkeeper Sem Westerveld, who let the easy header slip through his hands: 0-2.

After the break, Jong AZ managed to make up for his deficit within seven minutes. The deep-run Zakaria Aboukhlal was found by Jelle Duin, after which the AZ attacker pushed the ball past Nick Olij. Two minutes later, Aboukhlal simply turned away from Ramon Hendriks, to find the far corner from within the box: 2-2. Twenty minutes before time, NAC took the lead again. Michael Maria got the ball out of whack and suddenly pulled out from outside the box: 2-3.
