NAC Breda has been severely affected by the corona virus for the second time this season. BN DeStem reports Thursday afternoon that a total of four players are temporarily on the side due to a positive corona test. Goalkeeper Nick Olij, third keeper Chiel Kramer, defender Michaël Maria and midfielder Anouar Kali have tested positive. Earlier this season, the club from the Kitchen Champion Division also had to deal with various players who were affected by the virus.

Trainer Maurice Steijn has to do without his first keeper due to the loss of Olij on Friday against Roda JC Kerkrade. The closing post will be replaced by Roy Kortsmit, the regional newspaper reports. Due to the absence of Kramer, youth goalkeeper Pepijn van de Merbel travels with the A-selection to Kerkrade. For Kramer it is the second time that he has been tested positive for the corona virus. With Maria, NAC also misses a second regular basic player.

The current number four of the competition therefore travels battered to Limburg. The confrontation with Roda is also too early for Moreno Rutten; the back did not recover from an injury in time. Steijn also received good news from the infirmary: Kaj de Rooij is fit. The winger injured his ankle last week, but his injury is less serious than expected. With five games to go, NAC still has a chance of direct promotion to the Eredivisie. The gap on number two De Graafschap is four points.

Earlier this season, NAC saw a good run of wins end as it had to miss key players as they became infected with the corona virus. Eight players and a member of the coaching staff were missing for weeks. Lex Immers, among others, became infected and took a relatively long time to recover. In addition, Steijn was absent for weeks due to a corona infection.
