Tijjani Reijnders has not yet heard anything about Ajax’s possible interest. Less than a month ago it was announced that the team from Amsterdam would see a serious quality boost in the AZ midfielder. However, there is no concrete interest yet. Reijnders mainly focuses on closing the season with AZ as successfully as possible. The Alkmaarders still have a small chance of finishing second and will face Anderlecht in the quarterfinals of the Conference League on Thursday evening.

Reporting about Ajax’s interest in Reijnders came as a complete surprise to the midfielder. Sources within the Amsterdam club knew The Telegraph a month ago that Reijnders had to be pre-sorted for the departure of Edson Álvarez. “I woke up one day last month, looked at my phone and it was completely full of messages,” Reijnders said in conversation with Football International. “Because there was news that Ajax would be interested. That was also a surprise for me.”

As far as we know, Ajax has not yet reported to Reijnders. “I don’t know anything about that,” the midfielder continues. “My agent never told me anything about possible interest from Ajax. So I assume that they have not reported. Otherwise I would have known. It is a nice compliment if you are associated with other top clubs. I don’t much with it.”

The rumors have not led to Reijnders walking next to his shoes. “I don’t let myself go crazy easily, I won’t float easily. That’s not in my character. I talk about it with my father and also with the trainer. It’s simple for me: I approach every match in the same way, whatever else is happening around me. That is the only way to keep reaching your level. Everything starts with consistent performance over a long period of time.”
