PSV managed to win from FC Emmen in the last minute on Saturday night. Coach Roger Schmidt’s team seemed to be heading for a loss of points after a new blunder by Yvon Mvogo, who also made a mistake against FC Groningen. A good header by Maximiliano Romero on an excellent cross by Phillip Max still yielded three points for PSV: 2-1.

PSV put Emmen under pressure immediately in the first fifteen minutes, without that leading to too many chances. On the other hand, the Drenthenaren were given the first chance of the game after nineteen minutes. Robbert de Vos shot the ball towards the right cross, but Mvogo prevented a setback with an alert dive. Two minutes later it did hit directly on the other side. The organisation in Emmen’s defence was lost for a moment, so Philipp Max let Noni Madueke in with a low cross from the left flank: 1-0.

In the remainder of the first half, there wasn’t much to do for the quarter-filled Philips Stadium. Even after halftime PSV had visible difficulties to create chances against Emmen, which itself came out sparingly dangerous. Glenn Bijl saw a free kick turned by Mvogo, while Nikolai Laursen just later failed to tap a cross from the same axe at the first post.

The game seemed to be heading for a minimal victory for PSV, but out of nowhere the people of Eindhoven gave away a goal. Mvogo had to deal with a half bouncing back ball from Max and thought he could solve that with his characteristic nonchalance. The Zwiterse Kameroener, on the other hand, had the ball shot and saw it roll into his own goal. Donyell Malen was close to the winning goal twice in the remainder. First the striker from PSV aimed eye to eye with goalkeeper Dennis Telgenkamp just wide, then saw a dangerous header turned by the goalie. Romero did head off a cross by Max in the last minute: 2-1.
