Memphis Depay’s move to Barcelona will soon be completed, as you know Mundo Deportivo to report. Despite the fact that an agreement has not yet been reached, there is a very high degree of optimism among the Catalans, according to the Spanish sports newspaper. Depay should be presented by Barcelona next week as the third summer signing, after Sergio Aguero and Eric García.

Last week there were sounds from Spain that Barcelona had to fear a similar scenario as with Georginio Wijnaldum, who, despite the same level of optimism, was snatched by Paris Saint-Germain at the last minute. Juventus were willing to pay Depay three million euros more on an annual basis, while negotiations with Barcelona are said to have been paused. La Vecchia Signora reportedly tried to take advantage of the uncertainty that existed at Barcelona about Ronald Koeman’s future.

Depay has waited to see whether Koeman would indeed remain the coach of Barcelona. The moment President Joan Laporta announced that the Dutch coach will also be at the helm next season, Depay immediately instructed his new representatives to smooth out the last folds in the contract negotiations. That would have almost happened by now, already emphasized Mundo Deportivo that no agreement has yet been reached. It currently looks like Depay will sign a three-year deal with Barcelona.

In addition to Juventus, the Catalans also trump Internazionale, Atlético Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in the battle for the transfer-free attacker. Barcelona thinks they can present Depay next week, although it is not yet clear when that will be. However, it will take even longer before the the Dutch international is introduced to the supporters. After all, Depay is in the bubble with the Dutch national team for the European Championship and players are not allowed to leave it.
