Jose Mourinho has to miss the first four European games of next season. UEFA has suspended the AS Roma coach for four matches for his misconduct in and after the Europa League final against Sevilla (1-1, 4-1 on penalties). AS Roma will also be fined a total of 55,000 euros and will not be allowed to take supporters to the next away match.

Roma must pay €50,000 for fan misconduct in the final on May 31 in Budapest. It concerns setting off fireworks, throwing objects, causing damage and other disturbances. As a result of these facts, the fans are not allowed to join the next away match in Europe. Roma will also be fined 5,000 euros for the team’s misconduct during the final.

Mourinho is being punished for “abusive language towards a match official”, UEFA writes in its press release. The AS Roma trainer went completely crazy after the lost final battle against Sevilla and insulted the British referee Anthony Taylor to the bone. In England it was The Telegraph shouted for a mega suspension of no less than ten games, but it does not come to that.

Footage showed how the temperamental Mourinho confronted Taylor after midnight in a parking garage of the Puskás Aréna. The AS Roma coach accuses the referee of ‘blowing’ the match with too many yellow cards and also wanted a penalty after a handball from Sevilla midfielder Fernando. Mourinho wished Taylor, who was taken away in a van, everything in English and Italian, calling him, among other things, “a fucking disgrace.” “He looks like a Spanish referee,” Mourinho added.
