Mohamed Salah puts an end to all uncertainty about his sporting future. The 30-year-old Liverpool star is signing a new contract that will keep him at Anfield until mid-2025, confirm the Reds through the official channels. “I feel great and I’m really excited to win new trophies with the club. It’s a happy day for everyone,” Salah said on the club’s website.

Salah’s contract negotiations, which had only been signed for a year, were extremely difficult. “It will take some time, I think, to extend, but now everything is settled, so we just need to focus on what’s next,” said the Egyptian winger. “I think you can see the team got better and better over the last five or six years. Last season we were close to winning four, but unfortunately we lost two trophies in the last week of the season,” said Salah, targeting losing in the Champions League final and second place in the Premier League. Liverpool did win the FA Cup and EFL Cup.

Salah is looking forward to the new season. “I think we are in a good position to fight for everything. We also have new signings,” said Salah, who saw Darwin Núñez brought in, among others. “We just have to keep working hard, have a good vision, be positive and go for everything again.” The right winger is in his sixth season with Liverpool, producing 156 goals and 63 assists in 254 appearances so far.

Last season’s double cup win earned Salah the FWA Footballer of the Year and PFA Players’ Player of the Year titles on a personal level. The attacker scored 31 goals and 16 assists in 51 appearances in the 2021/22 football season. Salah scored 23 goals in the Premier League, making him joint top scorer with Heung-Min Son (Tottenham Hotspur).
