Mitchell Dijks has spoken out about his current situation via Instagram. The defender hardly gets to play at Bologna and, according to trainer Sinisa Mihajlovic, would not be happy at the Italian club. Italian media have also been reporting this for some time. Dijks, who is emphatically associated with a transfer to Standard Liège, contradicts the words of his trainer. Via Instagram he says that he does not agree with the rumors that are currently circulating.

During the closing press conference on Thursday, Mihajlovic openly questioned Dijks’ willingness to wear the Bologna shirt even longer. The defender does not enjoy the trust of the Yugoslav coach and has only appeared in six Serie A matches this season, of which only twice as a starting player. According to transfer expert Nicolò Schira, Standard Liège is in the market to relieve Dijks from his hopeless situation this transfer period, but the Belgian club has not yet become very concrete.

“I have seen a number of messages saying that I would no longer be happy to play for Bologna,” Dijks responds via Instagram to the persistent rumors about his current situation. “This is absolutely not true. I want to rectify this because since my arrival in 2018 I have felt the support of the fans and the team so far. The fans are in my heart. I am proud and honored to be the Bologna- shirt and I will always do my best for this club, until the end!”

Mihajlovic clearly had a different opinion. “Dijks is a player who no longer wants to be in Bologna and therefore has to leave,” the coach said. “I can’t keep players here that I can use purely for emergencies.” Dijks still has a contract until mid-2023 with Bologna, where he is in his fourth season. In his first three seasons, he was good for 58 games in Serie A. This season is therefore considerably more difficult. His name was previously associated with Hellas Verona and Torino, but Standard now seems to have the best papers.
