Feyenoord failed to beat RKC Waalwijk in De Kuip on Saturday. Arne Slot’s team fell victim to mistakes by Marcos Senesi, who did not look good in both goals. Cyriel Dessers could have put that right, but missed several great opportunities. Goals by Jens Toornstra and Guus Til resulted in a draw: 2-2. Feyenoord is stuck in fourth place; RKC is fourteenth.
At Feyenoord, Cyriel Dessers joined the team as a replacement for Luis Sinisterra, who was missing due to his international obligations with Colombia. The team from Rotterdam took the initiative and created opportunities at times. Marcos Senesi headed from a corner to the crossbar, while Dessers tapped Jahanbakhsh wide after a low cross by Alireza. Then Dessers was launched by Senesi and he knocked the ball over goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen, but also next to the goal.

Feyenoord took the lead after more than half an hour via Jens Toornstra. The midfielder received a headed ball in the penalty area in front of his feet, cleverly cut from his left to right leg and scored with a watched shot: 1-0. Almost out of nowhere, RKC came back into the game in a short period of time. Jens Odgaard had his back to the goal, managed to turn away from Senesi quite easily and shot the ball into the far corner: 1-1. In injury time of the first half, RKC was given the lead at the far post by a header from Vurnon Anita: 1-2. The midfielder, who had been let go by Senesi, scored his first goal ever on a pass from Odgaard.
RKC managed to hold onto the lead for only two minutes after the break. Senesi brought the ball in front of the goal after a corner kick with an overhead kick, where Guus Til ran into the ball: 2-2. A few minutes later, Michiel Kramer had a huge opportunity for the Waalwijkers, but the broken striker came across Justin Bijlow’s feet. At Feyenoord, Reiss Nelson made his debut after exactly one hour as a substitute for Bryan Linssen. The team from Rotterdam did not create much, but Tyrell Malacia set Dessers free in front of the goal five minutes before the end. The striker took the ball and aimed wildly from close range. Jahanbakhsh then headed just wide after a pass from Marcus Pedersen. In the eighth minute of injury time, Lutsharel Geertruida came very close to winning for Feyenoord, but Vaessen saved from close range.
