Fenerbahçe did excellent business in the Süper Lig on Sunday. The team of trainer Erol Bulut won a week after the surprising home defeat against Göztepe (0-1) with minimal difference from competitor Trabzonspor and hit a gap of six points with the number four: 0-1. With the victory, Fenerbahçe has three points less than leader Galatasaray and as many points as Besiktas, which, however, still has a duel credit.
Ugurcan Çakir could not be passed by the players of Fenerbahçe for fifteen minutes. The Trabzonspor goalkeeper saved a shot by Mert Yandas in the left corner in the 24th minute and a rebound by Attila Szalai shortly afterwards. Three minutes later, the goalkeeper was also attentive when he headed in Mame Thiam from close range.

Fenerbahçe, with Mesut Özil in the starting line-up, took the game fifteen minutes before the end. Dimitrios Pelkas was allowed to make meters towards the penalty area and shot more than twenty meters in front of the goal with the right. The low bet towards the right corner seemed tenable for Ugurcan, but the goalkeeper still had to fail to answer: 0-1.
In extra time, Trabzonspor hoped to get a penalty after an air duel between Enner Valencia and Vitor Hugo. The VAR looked at the images, but saw no violation from the Fenerbahçe attacker. The visitors still had a big chance in minute 95 via Mbwana Samatta, but despite plenty of space, the diagonal bet of Ozil’s replacement went wide.
