Minouche van der Gijp has seen enough after one episode of Veronica Offside: According to René van der Gijp’s wife, Wesley Sneijder is unsuitable as a football analyst. Minouche is disturbed by the confession of the former midfielder that he does not follow all football. “Wesley can exchange them for Rafaël van der Vaart,” said Minouche in a post on her Instagram Stories, which has since been removed.

Sneijder showed his confidence early on in Wilfred Genee’s new program, where Andy van der Meijde is also a regular table guest. “I have not seen much,” said Sneijder Monday evening. “No, I have seen a number of matches. But indeed, I don’t watch everything. I don’t have time for that.” Minouche lashes out hard at the record international of the Dutch a day later.

“If you don’t take the analyst job seriously enough to watch 90 percent of the games, you should stay at home,” said Minouche. “It’s something I don’t find attractive to look at and I don’t bet a large part of the Netherlands either.” Incidentally, her husband René van der Gijp also watched few matches last season, when he had been at Today Inside in the evening.

Minouche does like Van der Meijde as analyst of Veronica Offside. “I have faith in Andy, only now he has a little more in himself. But the first time is also exciting, but I hope it will loosen up a bit. The humor is there, only flatter is not always better. Timing and relevance do. In any case, I give it to him.” It was certainly not Genee’s presentation, according to Minouche. “Wilfred is simply the best presenter, and he proves it again with this.”
