Micky van de Ven is by the German magazine kicker included in the team of the week in the Bundesliga. The VfL Wolfsburg central defender has been rewarded for his strong performance against Eintracht Frankfurt. Die Wölfe won 0-1 and cleverly kept a clean sheet against the reigning Europa League holder. Wolfsburg calls his election on Twitter “fully deserved”.

The ex-player of FC Volendam showed a strong appearance in the duel with Frankfurt. He played the full 90 minutes, in which he cleared the ball seven times, had two interceptions and made two successful tackles. In addition, the 21-year-old Dutchman won both duels on the ground that he entered. Both long balls also arrived at a fellow player and he had a passing percentage of one hundred percent. With this, Van de Ven has repaid the confidence he received from trainer Niko Kovac in the first games of this season.

Van de Ven’s election does not come as a very big surprise. Since his time at Volendam, the defender has been known as a great talent, as a result of which Wolfsburg paid 3.5 million euros in the summer of 2021. In his first season, the four-time international of the Dutch Juniors was often a substitute. He also struggled with a hamstring injury between February and April 2022. However, since the start of the current season, Van de Ven has been fit again and has been on the field for 90 minutes in all Bundesliga matches this season.

Kicker has made a spot next to Van de Ven in the team of the week for Konstantinos Mavropanos of VfB Stuttgart, while the left and right back positions are occupied by Tobias Mohr (Schalke 04) and Mohamed Simakan (RB Leipzig), respectively. Rafal Gikiewicz of FC Augsburg defends the goal. In midfield are Xaver Schlager (RB Leipzig), Kerem Demirbay (Bayer Leverkusen), Dominik Szoboszlai (RB Leipzig), Dominick Drexler (Schalke 04) and Grischa Prömel (Hoffenheim). In the striker is Serhou Guirassy of Stuttgart, who hit the penalty kick caused by Matthijs de Ligt against Bayern Munich in injury time.
