Fenerbahçe lost sight of leader Trabzonspor on Monday evening. The team of Vítor Pereira appeared extremely weak at low flyer Göztepe, with Ferdi Kadioglu in the base. Mesut Özil led in a goal with a dramatic back pass, which was made up for by Serdar Dursun: 1-1. Fener remains in fourth place, already twelve points behind Trabzonspor.

The game was pretty much the same throughout the game. Fenerbahçe had the ball most of the time, but did not know what to do with it. Göztepe regularly sought a quick counterattack and was therefore dangerous. Berke Özer saved a header from Adis Jahovic, but Fener’s goalkeeper had to give in five minutes before the break. A dramatic pass back from Ozil was intercepted by Jahovic, who was launched and hit the short corner: 1-0.

Two minutes after the break, Fenerbahçe got away very well, when Halil Akbunar hit the post. Almost out of nowhere, the visitors scored immediately afterwards. Irfan Kahveci knocked the ball to the far post, where Dursun was ready to hit the ball: 1-1. Then Göztepe took the upper hand in the game and Fenerbahçe eventually got away with a point. The closest thing to winning for the home side came Jahovic, who just missed sliding in a low cross near the far post. Two minutes before the end, Fener-back Filip Novak received his second yellow card.
