In collaboration with Opta and the Kitchen Champion Division, Football Zone puts together a Weekly Team of the Week with players who have performed best based on statistics. Last Friday, the entire 37th round was completed. Heracles Almelo won 0-3 at NAC Breda and is therefore on the championship course.
At the same time, PEC Zwolle was 3-1 too strong for Roda JC. The Zwollenars thus came to 82 points, just like Heracles. However, the Almelo team has a better goal difference with one round left on the schedule: +59 compared to +55. Heracles will be visiting Jong Ajax next Friday, while PEC is waiting for an away match at Helmond Sport. Number three Willem II remained at the top in the last period thanks to a 3-0 win over Jong FC Utrecht. The Tilburgers are already certain of participation in the play-offs, but can also add the premium for the fourth period with a win over Roda.

Jong AZ, Willem II and VVV-Venlo are the main suppliers of the Elftal of the Week this week. Each of the three teams will field two players. Haris Medunjanin was the big man for PEC’s side in the victory over Roda. No player created more chances this round than the 38-year-old veteran (6), while he also recorded the most Expected Assists (0.72).
Wessel Dammers made the switch from FC Groningen to Willem II in the summer of 2022. On Friday evening he finally managed to find the net again in the game won against Jong FC Utrecht (3-0). For the centre-back, it was his first goal in the Kitchen Champion Division in five years and 169 days (then two goals against Go Ahead Eagles).
