Barcelona have reached an agreement with Alejandro Baldé on a new and improved contract, it has been reported SPORT. The nineteen-year-old left back, who is experiencing his absolute breakthrough with the Catalans this season, has extended his contract for three years and is now committed to the Spotify Camp Nou until mid-2027. The brand new champion of LaLiga has included a buyout clause of one billion euros in Baldé’s contract.

The left back is having an excellent season with Barcelona and was good for a goal and an assist last Sunday in the championship game against fellow townsman Espanyol (2-4 win). Baldé comes from the youth academy of the Catalans and is preferred this season to Jordi Alba and Marcos Alonso on Xavi’s left flank. The young Spaniard was also included in the World Cup squad of former national coach Luis Enrique.

Baldé has scored one goal and seven assists in 41 games so far this season and is now being rewarded for his breakthrough. His good campaign did not go unnoticed outside Barcelona, as the left back was on the lists of several European top clubs. Baldé received the same salary this season as in the youth, but that will change with the new contract. Barça have included a €1 billion buyout clause in the left back’s new commitment. The club also did the same with the contract extensions of Ronald Araújo, Gavi, Pedri, Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati.

It remains to be seen whether LaLiga approves Baldé’s new commitment. The Spanish league must first agree with Barcelona’s feasibility plan. It was previously announced that the Catalans must save two hundred million euros to comply with LaLiga’s Financial Fair Play rules. Barcelona must therefore first make room in the salary house to register new contracts. As a result, Gavi, Araújo, Sergi Roberto, Alonso, Iñaki Peña and Iñigo Martínez – who is being taken over from Athletic Club on a free transfer – are still in the waiting room.
