The match in Ligue 1 between Montpellier and Paris Saint-Germain got off to a memorable start on Wednesday evening. Kylian Mbappé, much to his own frustration, messed up two penalties in a row. To make matters worse for the PSG star, Mbappé also did not get the rebound from very close in the goal with that last penalty miss. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the attacker had to be replaced injured in the 21st minute. Mbappé was felled by a hard charge from Leo Leroy, who got away without a card.

In the seventh minute of the game, a penalty for PSG resulted from a free kick that Lionel Messi had thrown into the box. Sergio Ramos was illegally hindered by Christopher Julien, after which Mbappé was allowed to moor from eleven meters for the first time. That attempt was tapped from the bottom left corner by goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte. Mbappé was disappointed, but was allowed to take over the penalty kick, because Lecomte had not stayed on the goal line. The PSG star then tried in the other corner, but was again met by Lecomte.
