After a soap opera of a total of ten days, the air between Mauro Icardi and his wife Wanda Nara has finally been cleared. Nara writes on Instagram that the divorce papers had already been signed, but that a letter from Icardi has changed her mind. The Paris Saint-Germain striker seemed to indicate via social media a week ago that a divorce was off the table.

“The photos I’ve posted over the past few months show how happy we were. What happened hurt me a lot. I asked Mauro every day for a divorce,” Nara writes on Instagram. “When he realized there was no going back, he told me we couldn’t go on like this. He agreed to a divorce, if that was the way to stop this pain. We went to a lawyer, within two days Mauro accepted all the terms and signed the divorce papers.”

“But the next day he wrote me a letter like no one has ever written to me. ‘I gave you everything and you gave me everything. I hope you can be happy because you make me happy,” he wrote,” Nara continued. “I realized I have nothing if I’m not with him, even though I have everything. I am sure that this bad period strengthens us as a couple and as a family. Most importantly, we both had the freedom to end our response. We chose each other when our souls were tired of crying.”

The soap started last Saturday with a message from Nara via Instagram Stories. “Another family you destroyed for a slut!” Nara wrote in a post on her Instagram Stories last weekend. The couple has been married since 2014. Nara was previously married to Maxi López, Icardi’s teammate at Sampdoria, until her relationship with Icardi came to light. Nara, who also acted as Icardi’s agent, no longer followed her husband on social media.

Icardi published a photo on Sunday in which he can be seen in Milan with Nara, who was still wearing a ring on her finger. He added three hearts to the publication. Nara responded on her own account by sharing a photo of her own hand, this time without a ring: “I like my hand better without a ring,” Nara captioned it. Argentine media were convinced that things would not work out between Icardi and Nara. In recent days, Icardi received permission to travel to his wife in Milan. The striker dropped Sunday and Monday training sessions in an attempt to save his marriage and ultimately found himself unable to play in the PSG vs RB Leipzig game, which ended 3-2 on Tuesday evening.

Judging by the Instagram post Icardi posted last Tuesday, his marriage seemed to be saved after all. “Thank you, my love, for continuing to trust in this beautiful family, thank you for being the engine of our lives. I love you. Look how much it hurts when you hurt the one you love. You feel only be well again when those who hurt you forgive you,” Icardi wrote with a photo, which shows him with Nara. The Argentine striker was also on the reserve bench at PSG on Sunday evening (ninety minutes) during the game against Olympique Marseille (0-0).
