Olympique Marseille hopes for the arrival of Mason Greenwood, journalist David Ornstein reported on Thursday The Athletic. The French top club, which presented Roberto De Zerbi as its new trainer on Monday, is carefully examining whether it is possible to bring Greenwood to Ligue 1.

TO and Manchester United are currently in discussions about Greenwood, although finances have not yet been discussed. The 22-year-old Englishman himself is said to have already had a positive conversation with the Marseille club management.

Greenwood sees Marseille as a good option to continue his career, also because of the presence of De Zerbi. The left foot was previously linked to Italian clubs such as Juventus, Lazio and Napoli.

There are also various clubs from Germany, Spain and Portugal that monitor Greenwood's situation. United would prefer to sell Greenwood, although another loan or even return to training is a possibility the Red Devils not unthinkable. Erik ten Hag may want to give the attacker another chance.

Greenwood is still stuck at Old Trafford for another season. Transfer market estimates his current market value at 25 million euros, although United appears to be betting on a higher amount. Getafe, the club for which Greenwood played last season, would like to rent the single international for another year. A permanent transfer to Madrid seems financially impossible.

Greenwood managed to convince quite a bit on loan at Getafe. The attacker scored 10 goals and 6 assists in 36 official matches, while he had been inactive for a long time. Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 on suspicion of assaulting and raping his girlfriend Harriet Robson.

This happened after Robson shared footage of the assault on social media. Robson has now dropped all charges against Greenwood and she is even dating him again. Yet Manchester United has been troubled by Greenwood's judicial past since his arrest.
