At least three players from Olympique Marseille have suffered injuries from the disturbances during Sunday night’s game against OGC Nice. Luan Peres and Mattéo Guendouzi shared photos of their injuries: they both have visible damage to their necks. Dimitri Payet has sustained injuries to his back after being hit by a water bottle from the crowd.
The match was halted after Nice supporters came onto the field. They first threw a bottle at Payet and reacted angrily when the Marseille playmaker threw the bottle back. They came onto the pitch and targeted Marseille players, who were left with injuries from the clashes. Nice wants the game to be completed, but Marseille does not like that. They, unlike the players of the home team, did not come back on the field. It is not clear what will happen.
Opposite RMC Sports Nice claims that two of the club’s players, Jean-Clair Todibo and Justin Kluivert, were physically assaulted by Marseille staff during the disturbances.
