Marco Reus started his farewell tour at Borussia Dortmund on Saturday with a goal and two assists. The midfielder was the big man in the home match against FC Augsburg, which was treated to a 5-1 defeat. Donyell Malen, who darted across the field before halftime, was also accurate.

It was an eventful week at Dortmund. After the team managed to beat Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final of the Champions League on Wednesday, Marco Reus announced his retirement two days later. The icon leaves after twelve years at the club.

Giant does not close the door quietly behind him. As he was important for so many times before BVB, the team could not do without his class on Saturday. Dortmund took the lead after four minutes of play through Youssoufa Moukoko, who was able to finish from close range after a scramble.

The home team was on target in the first half and doubled the margin after twenty minutes through Malen. The Dutchman scored with a half diving header on a pass from Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. It was Malen's twelfth competition goal of the season.

Malen frolicked across the field at times and, more than a month before the start of the European Championship, seemed to be feeling good. After half an hour of play, he failed to put his team at 3-0 when his effort was saved in the short corner by goalkeeper Tomas Koubek.

Koubek was beaten from the corner that followed. The Czech went under the ball, after which Moukoko was able to score his second of the afternoon on a pass from Reus: 3-0. Three minutes later, Ruben Vargas scored the goal of honor on behalf of Augsburg. A few minutes later it was Reus' turn.

The German left his own half just in time and enjoyed a free passage towards Koubek, who was beaten with a nice marker for the fourth time this afternoon: 4-1.

Dortmund seemed to believe it and clearly slowed down after the break, which gave Augsburg the opportunity to get back into the match. Club top scorer Ermedin Demirovic and Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, however, did not have their sights set.

Dortmund struck once more. After Malen had left the field, Felix Nmecha made it 5-1 on a pass from Reus. The best moment of the afternoon came not much later, when the absolute trendsetter was accompanied to the side by a standing ovation. Reus's farewell tour promises to be a very nice one.
