Dean Henderson has failed to force a transfer. The Manchester United reserve goalkeeper is unhappy with his current situation and saw an early departure as the only solution. However, Ralf Rangnick decided to put a stop to that. Watford’s offer, which the goalkeeper liked to see on the last day of the transfer window, was resolutely brushed aside. Earlier, Ajax and Newcastle United also showed interest in the goalkeeper.

Watford’s attempt to free Henderson from United came somewhat unexpectedly. The current number penultimate in the Premier League would have liked to take over the goalkeeper on a rental basis, but had to see how United put a stop to that. Rangnick is not willing to cooperate with a transfer from the reserve goalkeeper. Henderson hinted several times in the past transfer window that he would like to leave, but was not heard from Rangnick.

Watford had reportedly been keeping an eye on the situation around Henderson for some time, but was aware that the keeper preferred Newcastle. Back then the Hornets tried to strike on Monday, United did not concede. Watford put down an offer that was firmly rejected by United. Partly because the club would not be able to attract a replacement at such short notice. Rangnick personally urged club management not to let Henderson go.

Henderson appeared to be the first goalkeeper to start the season at United. However, the single England international was hit by the coronavirus and watched David de Gea reclaim his place under the bar. Henderson then spoke to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Rangnick about his role in the squad, after which he was told his presence was desirable in view of the busy schedule. United also prevented Jesse Lingard from leaving on loan on the last day of the transfer deadline.
