Erling Braut Haaland has resumed training at Manchester City, according to images released by the club. The top scorer struggled with a groin injury for several weeks, but now seems to be making his comeback soon. As a result, Haaland also seems to be fit in time for the first leg with Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the Champions League. That game will be played at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, April 11.

On 18 March, Haaland produced a hat-trick in the FA Cup quarter-final against Burnley (6-0 win). The Norwegian was taken to the side after 62 minutes, after which he appeared to be bothered by his groin. Haaland nevertheless traveled to Norway to report to the national team for the European Championship qualifiers against Spain and Georgia. However, it soon became clear that the goalkeeper would not be fit in time for those matches, after which he returned to Manchester. There he continued his recovery.

It was expected that Haaland would be fit in time for last Saturday’s Premier League cracker against Liverpool, but that turned out not to be the case. Nevertheless, the team of manager Pep Guardiola convincingly won 4-1 the Reds. The away game against Southampton at the bottom of the table is scheduled for Saturday. For the time being it is unclear whether Haaland will be there for that match, although that seems to be the case given Guardiola’s statements on Monday. The meeting with Bayern seems to be a feasible card anyway.

Guardiola announced at the beginning of this week that the recovery of the Scandinavian is going well. “Erling is doing better. On Friday he felt a little better compared to the two days before. The game against Southampton is in five days, so hopefully he can help us there as he has all season,” said the Catalan. Haaland has already scored a staggering 42 goals in 37 games this season. Against Liverpool, Haaland was replaced at the point of the striker by Julián Álvarez. The Argentinian played a great pot and also scored the equalizer.
