Manchester City suffered an expensive loss of points in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon. On a visit to Nottingham Forest, Pep Guardiola’s team had the better of the game for almost the entire match, but it got stuck at a draw: 1-1. Bernardo Silva scored the opening goal just before half-time. In the final phase, Chris Wood made up for the deficit on behalf of the home team with a ticker. Because of the draw, City sees Arsenal running out, there the Gunners earlier in the afternoon managed to win against Aston Villa (2-4).

Manchester City seemed to have little to fear from Nottingham Forest for a long time on Saturday. The fact that the visitors had ninety percent possession of the ball after ten minutes was significant about the proportions. In the opening phase, a shot from Jack Grealish was blocked by the home side, while Kevin De Bruyne shot meters wide of goal. A cross from the Belgian midfielder was headed just wide by Rodri not much later. The rain of opportunities turned out to be only a postponement for Forest, which was beaten just before halftime.

After a wide pass from Grealish, Bernardo Silva suddenly took a swing from the edge of the box. His hard bang was too much for goalkeeper Keylor Navas: 0-1. In the second half it was also City that dominated. Ten minutes after the break, Aymeric Laporte seemed to double the score when he headed in one meter from goal. However, his effort went straight for Navas, allowing the Costa Rican to make the save. City had chances to further build up the score in the second half, but failed to do so. Phil Foden saw a bet go through the keeper on the post and Erling Braut Haaland shot high over from a rebound.

On the other hand, Forest managed to find the net. After a combination on the right side of the field, Morgan Gibbs-White delivered the ball to the fully detached Chris Wood. It was then a breeze for the Forest striker to work the ball against the net at the far post: 1-1. City tried to force a winning goal in the final minutes, but failed. Nathan Aké, who came on one minute before the end, saw a nice cross being worked out of the goal mouth. City will face RB Leipzig in the Champions League next Wednesday.
