Gabriel Gudmundsson has been in the spotlight at major European clubs, it reports Aftonbladet Tuesday. RB Leipzig and Napoli are ‘at the front of the line’ for the left back of FC Groningen, while Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund would also be interested. According to Football International however, no question yet.

Gudmundsson came over from Halmstads BK in the summer of 2019 and was taken by Groningen as an attacker. In his first season he actually played as a left winger, although he only played eleven times due to a hamstring injury. In the current season he started as a left winger, but trainer Danny Buijs transformed Gudmundsson into left back in November. The 21-year-old Swede appears to be able to manage well in that position.

Gudmundsson already gave five assists this season and is also the left back with on average the most shots fired, the most delivered crosses and the most completed dribbles per ninety minutes in the Eredivisie. The winger missed the past three games due to an ankle injury. His contract in Groningen will run until mid-2022; the club would like to continue with Gudmundsson for longer, but must seriously consider a transfer,

News of interest from Leipzig, Napoli, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund got through this week Forza Italian Football first reported and later verified by among others Aftonbladet, The Telegraph and Football International. The Italian football website also reported interest from Ajax, but the other media do not report about this. “Interest is nice, but I now only focus on Groningen. The rest will come after the season”, Gudmundsson responds. Fotbolls channels.
