Luton's Premier League match with Bournemouth will be replayed in full, reports the DailyMail based on sources within the English Football Association. The match was finally stopped after 65 minutes on Saturday afternoon at 1-1, after Luton defender Tom Lockyer suddenly collapsed on the field.

Luton then announced that Lockyer went into cardiac arrest. The man has now regained consciousness and been taken to hospital. It was then also announced that the match was permanently stopped. Luton, who also thanked Bournemouth's medical staff, said the players were unable to continue playing after what happened.

The match will only not be resumed in the second half if the score is 1-1. Premier League Rule L15 requires any match that is abandoned with the permission of the match officials to be replayed in full – rather than restarting the match at the point where the match was finally abandoned, the club said. DailyMail.

A new date and start time have yet to be determined. Earlier this year, Lockyer also became unwell on the pitch during the Premier League promotion match between Luton and Coventry City. He subsequently had surgery on his heart, after which he was able to continue his career.

Lockyer received a lot of support on social media on Saturday, including from (former) professional football players. Ashley Young, John Terry and David de Gea, among others, said their thoughts were with the Luton captain.

Luton provided more information about Lockyer's medical condition on Saturday. “Our medical staff confirmed that he suffered a cardiac arrest on the field. When he was carried off the field on a stretcher, he was able to speak again.”

“He received further medical treatment in the catacombs of the stadium before being transported to hospital. His condition is stable and he is currently undergoing further tests while his family is with him.”
