Belgium has qualified for the Final Four of the Nations League. With a 4-2 victory over Denmark, the Red Devils winner of Group 2 in Division A. The big man for the Belgians was Romelu Lukaku, who scored two goals and thus raised his total number of hits in this season to twelve. England simultaneously won 4-0 against Iceland, which relegated to Division B without having scored a point.

Belgium – Denmark 4-2
The game in the King Power at Den Dreef stadium in Leuven was only three minutes old when Belgium already took the lead. Youri Tielemans picked up a ball initially lost by Romelu Lukaku and took it from the edge of the penalty area: 1-0. The midfielder of Leicester City had also been accurate last week in the home game with England won 2-0. Denmark was not discouraged and reached the same level ten minutes later. Jan Vertonghen blocked a shot from Martin Braithwaite, after which the ball ended up high in the penalty area. Jonas Older Wind towered above everyone and headed in the equalizer.

Both teams then had the opportunity to take the lead before half-time. Lukaku, for example, shot just wide on behalf of the Belgians, while the Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois had to save the day with a deployment by Braithwaite and Yussuf Poulsen saw a dangerous cross from Christian Eriksen pass by. Soon after the break it was hit. Tielemans quickly took a free kick, after which Kevin De Bruyne was enabled to launch Lukaku. The Internazionale striker made no mistake from within the penalty area. Lukaku then seemed to decide the game with his seventeenth goal in the last fourteen international matches. He headed in after a cross from Thorgan Hazard.

The tension came back in the game with five minutes to go, was due to Courtois. The Real Madrid goalkeeper let a Nacer Chadli pass back under his foot, reducing the margin to one. Denmark could hope for another two minutes for a result in Belgium, because shortly afterwards De Bruyne decided the game definitively. A pass from Thomas Foket ended up far at the far post, where the Manchester City midfielder who had passed through managed to put the 4-2 final score on the scoreboard.

England – Iceland 4-0
Prior to the visit to Wembley, Iceland was the last player in Group 2, with zero points from five games. At the same time, the English knew that a place at the Final Four of the Nations League would no longer be feasible, so that in fact nothing was at stake. The Three Lions already managed to distance themselves from Iceland in the first half. After twenty minutes of play, Declan Rice promoted a free kick by Phil Foden with the head to the opening goal. He thus became the first West Ham United goalscorer in the England national team since Matthew Upson in 2010.

Four minutes later, the margin was already doubled. After a poorly cleared cross by Bukayo Saka, Mason Mount came into possession of the ball on the edge of the five-meter area. Chelsea’s attacking midfielder stayed cool and put the leather in the far corner. Iceland’s aspirations were soon put on hold in the second half, when Birkir Már Saevarsson was sent off with his second yellow card. England seemed to be reasonably merciful to Iceland, but still managed to win a 4-0 victory in the last ten minutes due to a double hit by Foden.
