In the next 15 days, more will become clear about Luis Suárez’s football future. The 35-year-old striker is fencing interest from numerous clubs, but has narrowed the list down to three serious options. According to Referísports section in the Uruguayan newspaper El Observador are located in Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. Suarez has reportedly asked for the names of the clubs to be kept secret.

Suarez has been without a club since his transfer-free departure from Atlético Madrid last June. Many clubs already tried to tie the routine and many already got zero on the bill. Argentina’s River Plate was close to a stunt, but Suárez balked at a transition due to the Copa Libertadores elimination. “The transfer is cancelled, as they are no longer in the Copa and I just wanted to win a South American cup,” the goalkeeper said. Ovacion† The Mexican Cruz Azul and Toluca – which was still on the market for Luuk de Jong last month – were also told a definite ‘no’.

There are according to Referí three more serious options being considered by Suárez. One is in Spain, the other in Italy and the Netherlands. Journalist Alfredo Pedullà already wrote on Friday evening that Monza El Pistolero would have approached for a switch, with which one of the candidates seems familiar. However, Juventus and Atalanta are also still mentioned as potential destinations in Italian media. Given Suárez’s generous salary, it seems likely that the Dutch candidate is his former club Ajax. The striker already destroyed the Eredivisie on behalf of the team from Amsterdam between 2007 and 2011, before he made the switch to Liverpool.

After the Premier League also became a prey for Suárez, Barcelona decided to sign the top scorer in 2014 for just over 81 million. In 281 matches for the Catalans, the Uruguayan managed to find the net 194 times. Despite his extraordinary numbers, Suarez was brutally kicked out in 2020. His annual fee weighed too heavily on the club’s salary house. After 2 years, 83 games and 34 goals at Atlético, his next employer also decided to end the collaboration.
