Ajax will compete against Ludogorets in the play-offs of the Europa League. The Bulgarian team, which includes former FC Groningen goalkeeper Sergio Padt, won 5-1 against FC Astana from Kazakhstan on Thursday evening. With that, the team brushed away the loss from the first game (2-1). The Bulgarians made the difference in the second half, in which they managed to find the net four times.

Particularities:
At Ludogorets, Padt started on the bench. The Amsterdam goalkeeper, who previously stood under the bar for Groningen for seven seasons, was still allowed to participate from the kick-off in the first game of the diptych. Former AZ defender Aslak Fonn Witry was in the starting line-up. In the first half, Ludogorets took the lead through Bernard Tekpetey. The Bulgarians could not enjoy their lead for long, as Dembo Darboe equalized on behalf of Astana a few minutes later. After the break, Ludogorets still ran away from the Kazakhs by hitting four goals: 5-1. Over two games, the score was thus set at 6-3, meaning that the Bulgarian formation has reached the play-offs of the Europa League. So they meet Ajax in that.

28′ 1-1 Dembo Darboe
47′ 2-1 Jakub Piotrowski
49′ 3-1 Bernard Tekpetey
