The pre-selection of the Dutch national team for the last two World Cup qualifiers in Group G has been announced. National coach Louis van Gaal has selected thirty men; the final list will be announced on Friday 5 November.

“I have put thirty players on the provisional list,” responds the national coach. “That is deliberately a bit more than normal. At the moment, however, we are dealing with boys who are struggling with injuries. Furthermore, a number of internationals have few playing minutes in their legs. Hence the choice for a somewhat larger group.”

The the Dutch squad is in the lead in Group G of the qualifying series with nineteen points. Norway (seventeen points), Turkey (fifteen points) and Montenegro (eleven points) also have a chance to qualify for the World Cup. The the Dutch squad will play against Montenegro on Saturday, November 13 in Podgorica and three days later in Rotterdam against Norway. There is a chance that the group win, and with it direct qualification for the World Cup, is at stake in the last game. The number two will enter the next round in which twelve countries will participate, three of which will eventually qualify.
