Liverpool are ready to break the transfer record for Moisés Caicedo, you know Sky Sports report on Thursday. Brighton & Hove Albion reportedly requires 115 million euros for the midfielder and sounds from England that the Reds to meet that amount. The record is currently held by Darwin Núñez, for whom Liverpool deposited 100 million euros including bonuses in mid-2022.

Whether Caicedo actually chooses Liverpool remains to be seen. Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this Thursday that the 21-year-old defensive midfielder from Ecuador is currently staying in London pending transfer developments. Chelsea is also emphatically in the market for Caicedo, although an initial bid of 92.5 million euros was rejected by the Brighton board. Chelsea will soon submit an improved offer.

It is still unclear which club Caicedo prefers. The English journalist Ben Jacobs reports on Thursday evening that all parties involved want clarity as soon as possible. Brighton, Chelsea and Liverpool even want to know on Friday what will happen with the Ecuador international. According to Jacobs, Caicedo has been in the picture for some time at Liverpool, which has so far seen no reason to make an offer. Chelsea, meanwhile, remain confident in the arrival of the young midfielder.

Bayern Munich would also follow the situation around Caicedo with interest. However, the South American is aiming for a longer stay in the Premier League, preferably at a top club. Caicedo was brought in by Brighton for an undisclosed amount at the beginning of 2021, which can therefore sell him for a substantial amount a few years later. An interesting detail is that Chelsea and Liverpool will meet on Sunday in the first round of the Premier League.
