Liverpool settled with Arsenal at home on Monday evening. The visitors from London came against the proportions ahead of Anfield. Alexandre Lacazette took advantage of an Andrew Robertson mistake. In the first half, the home team put things in order: Sadio Mané and Robertson ensured that Jürgen Klopp’s team went to rest with a 2-1 lead. Just before the end, the final score was 3-1 by substitute Diogo Jota.

Early in the game, Mané escaped a red card. In an effort to keep Kieran Tierney off the ball, he planted his elbow in the face of the Arsenal back after 125 seconds of play. Referee Craig Pawson spared Mané by handing out a yellow card. The home team had the game under control from the first minute, but fell behind after 25 minutes of play. Robertson unluckily handled a cross from the left flank, unintentionally clearing Lacazette for goalkeeper Alisson. The French striker did not hit the ball well, but nevertheless left the Brazilian final post without a chance. Just before that, Trent Alexander-Arnold was close to the opening goal on behalf of Liverpool; his long shot was redirected and hit the crossbar.

Arsenal could not enjoy the lead for long. A few minutes after the 0-1, Liverpool tied the score. Pawson applied the advantage rule very well when Naby Keita was pushed to the ground in midfield. The ball ended up with Mohammed Salah, whose bet was turned by Bernd Leno. Sadio Mané was in the right place to work in the equalizer. Liverpool quickly put things in order and turned the gap into a lead. Alexander-Arnold’s cross was too high for Mané, after which Robertson appeared in the sixteen and made up for his earlier mistake by poking the 2-1 behind Leno. The lead was deserved, as Liverpool was the parent and ruled almost the entire first half.

Virgil van Dijk, who, just like Georginio Wijnaldum, played the entire game, set the lines in the rear and scattered the entire game with nice passes. Defensively, he barely ran into any problems personally, but he still saw Lacazette turn up free for Alisson twice in the second half. Where the French striker turned out to be offside at his first chance, manager Klopp’s team had to thank keeper Alisson for a good save face to face with the Arsenal attacker. Substitute Dani Ceballos had an unparalleled through ball at Lacazette, but the striker was unable to score the 2-2. On the other side of the field, substitute Diogo Jota messed up twice a big chance to finally end the match. Just before time it was still hit for the Liverpool acquisition. David Luiz headed a cross from Alexander-Arnold into the feet of Jota, who set the final score at 3-1 from the edge of the penalty area.
