Teun Koopmeiners actually enjoys interest from Liverpool, as confirmed La Gazzetta dello Sport after the English quality newspaper The Telegraph recently came out with the scoop. The pink sports newspaper now even knows for what amount the the Dutch international may leave Atalanta: at least forty million euros. The 24-year-old left leg is still fixed in Bergamo until mid-2025.

Koopmeiners played according to La Gazzetta in the spotlight at Liverpool during the last World Cup. In the quarterfinals against Argentina, the midfielder gave a brilliant assist to Wout Weghorst (2-2), as a result of which the Netherlands managed to drag out extra time. During the lost penalty shootout, Koopmeiners hit his own penalty. However, Steven Berghuis and Virgil van Dijk missed, while Andries Noppert was unable to save a single penalty kick. Koopmeiners now has fifteen international matches for the the Dutch, five of which during the last World Cup.

In addition to his performances in Qatar, Koopmeiners is also showing himself in Serie A this season. The Castricum-born controller has been a permanent fixture at Atalanta throughout the season. After sixteen appearances, Koopmeiners has four goals and two assists. In total, the former AZ player is already ahead in 59 official matches la Dea, which can sell him to Liverpool for a hefty profit. Koopmeiners came over from the Alkmaarders in the summer of 2021 for about fourteen million euros.

However, it is expected that Atalanta will only be open to a sale of Koopmeiners in the coming transfer summer. An actual transition of the midfielder would mean that he steps from one Dutch enclave to another. At Atlanta, Koopmeiners currently plays together with Hans Hateboer and Marten de Roon, while Liverpool has two Dutchmen under contract with Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo. In addition, Pepijn Lijnders, the assistant of manager Jürgen Klopp, is of Dutch descent. He would be particularly charmed by the qualities of Koopmeiners.
