Feyenoord and Liverpool are close to an agreement about Arne Slot. Fabrizio Romano reported this on Friday afternoon. According to the Italian journalist, the talks are going in the right direction, and both clubs are nearing an agreement on the buyout sum.

“I understand that Liverpool and Feyenoord are now close to an agreement on the buyout of Arne Slot,” said Romano on X. “The talks are also going in the right direction today (Friday, ed.).”

“There are still some details that need to be resolved, and the expectation is that a green light will be given soon,” the journalist concludes. Romano does not report what the amount of the lump sum will be, but according to the usually reliable journalist Ben Jacobs, it could be closer to fifteen million euros.

Slot, who does not have a limited buyout sum in his Feyenoord contract, is still in De Kuip until mid-2026. In Liverpool he must succeed Jürgen Klopp. The German is taking a sabbatical after this season.

On Thursday, prior to Feyenoord's Eredivisie match with Go Ahead Eagles (1-3 win), Slot joined ESPN have already responded to Liverpool's interest. “The only thing I can say about it is that the clubs are negotiating,” he began.

“Then you sit in the waiting room and wait to see what will happen. It seems clear to me that I would like to go to Liverpool. Now I'm waiting to see whether the clubs will reach an agreement, but I have every confidence in that.”

“You have to let the clubs do their work and I am waiting for that. As the main character you must also respect that. It will undoubtedly become clear in the coming days,” the trainer concluded.
