West Ham United did excellent business on Monday night in the battle for Champions League football tickets. On a visit to Wolverhampton Wanderers, the team of trainer David Moyes enjoyed a comfortable 1-3 lead halfway through, which was eventually pulled over with a lot of effort: 2-3. Climbing thanks to the win the Hammers, who have 52 points, to fourth place in the Premier League, with Chelsea (51), Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool (both 49) and Everton (47) in their wake. Wolverhampton remains with 35 points on the fourteenth position.

The Londoners fired energetically from the starting blocks in the Molineux Stadium, as Jesse Lingard opened the score before the sixth minute of play had elapsed. The Manchester United mercenary got the ball from Vladimír Coufal about seventy meters from the hostile goal and then slalomed past the defense towards Rui Patrício at top speed. Face to face with the closing post, Lingard finished cold-blooded: 0-1. Less than ten minutes later, West Ham already doubled the lead.

After a technical tour de force by Lingard on the back line, the ball reached Arthur Masuaku, who was only back on the field for the first time since December 5, 2020 due to a lingering injury. Masuku then ensured with a return ball that Pablo Fornals could shoot diagonally: 0-2. After a deadlock of more than twenty minutes, West Ham ended up in a seat. Lingard once again had a star role, who gave Jarrod Bowen the opportunity to make the 0-3. With that the game seemed over, but nothing could be further from the truth.

Just before the half-time signal, Leander Dendoncker put his name on the scoreboard on behalf of Wolverhampton, which, contrary to what the score would suggest, was not much inferior to the opponent. After an impressive sprint over the left flank, Adama Traoré reached the back line and served the Belgian midfielder, who convincingly nodded in: 1-3. Halfway through the second half, the tension fully returned to the game. It was Pedro Neto who had a nice and high ball on Fábio Silva, who hit goal in the far corner after a good assumption. Wolverhampton was still explicitly looking for the equalizer, but the visitors took the 2-3 victory over the line.
