Marco Verratti will continue his career at the Qatari Al-Arabi, transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Sunday morning. The Italian midfielder earns Paris Saint-Germain 45 million euros. The transfer market in Qatar is open until September 18, which is why this transfer was able to take place well after the closure of the French market.

With the departure of Verratti, PSG loses a wealth of experience. The Italian international arrived from Pescara for twelve million euros in 2012 and has since played more than four hundred games for the club. Verratti is therefore the most successful Ligue 1 player in history: he became champion of France nine times, won the Coupe de France six times, won the Coupe de la Ligue six times and the French Super Cup nine times. .

According to L’Équipe Verratti is not the only superfluous PSG player who is leaving for the Gulf state. Julian Draxler was not registered for the Champions League and is expected to sign a lucrative contract in Qatar this week. The German midfielder will be the new star player of the Qatari Al-Ahli. Draxler played on loan for Benfica last year.

The departures of Draxler and Verratti are part of the midfield transformation at PSG. Earlier this summer, Georginio Wijnaldum left for Al-Ettifaq and Leandro Paredes and Renato Sanches were sold to AS Roma. In their place, Manuel Ugarte was acquired from Sporting Portugal for sixty million, Che Ndour came from Benfica and the club paid RCD Mallorca 22 million for the services of Kang-in Lee.
