According to L’Equipe there is still a good chance that Real Madrid will make off with Kylian Mbappé this summer. The Paris Saint-Germain superstar has a contract until mid-2024, but does not want to extend his stay in the French capital. Real Madrid, which has been angling for Mbappé’s services for a long time, reserves according to L’Equipe a transfer fee of 200 million euros to take him over this summer.

To prevent a transfer-free departure from Mbappé, PSG will have to sell his attacker this summer or, if necessary, next winter. That sounds like music to the ears at Real Madrid, which was already very close to attracting the winger in the summer of 2022. At the time, Mbappé surprised by extending his contract at the Parc des Princes until mid-2024. Mbappé has an option in his contract to extend the contract by one year, but has decided not to use it. According to the attacker himself, the French club management had been aware of this since July 15, 2022. PSG would nevertheless be surprised at Mbappé’s wish not to renew his contract.

Made earlier this week L’Equipe announced to the world that Mbappé does not want to renew his contract. Very quickly, the sounds about an upcoming employment at Real Madrid became stronger. So wrote Le Parisien that Mbappé wants to leave for the Spanish capital this summer, something that Mbappé had nothing to do with. In a response to the news item on Twitter, the 68-time international stated in clear terms what he thought of the news item. “LIES”, he wrote in capital letters. “At the same time: the bigger the lie, the better it works. I have already said that next season I will continue at PSG, where I am very happy.” In that case, Mbappé would leave PSG on a free transfer in the summer of 2024, something the club does not like.

Mbappé has been playing for PSG since the summer of 2018, which took him over from AS Monaco for 180 million euros at the time. The expectation is that les Parisians want to receive more than 200 million euros in the event of the super striker’s departure, which would require Real Madrid to add some extra to the reserved sum of 200 million. In recent years, Mbappé played no less than 260 official games for PSG, in which he scored 212 goals and 98 assists. This makes him the all-time top scorer of the European superpower. In addition to Lionel Messi, PSG may lose a second world star this summer.
